‘Try Before You Buy’, ‘Use To Enthuse’ Have a Go and feel the High or Low’ (Ok so I made the last two up) but there is no doubt that hiring a VW camper is the perfect way to see if road tripping is for you before parting ways with…well a lot of dollar… I mean it can be eye watering..can you imagine parting with your hard earned cash and then finding out that’s it not for you!! Ouch…..

Of course its bitter sweet for us as you having the best time will mean you bagging your own VW and then we won’t see you again..sniff sniff.. BUT we would be foolish to ignore this corner of the market which is increasing year on year, so here at Lakes Escape Campers your numero uno choice for Lake District, Cumbria and UK Campervan hire we are on hand to share our experience and knowledge and of course offer our fleet ( love that word ) which is a mix of short wheel base ( SWB ) and long wheel base (LWB) vans. With a personality of their own our girls are perfect for sampling what VW is suited to your needs.

Not only are our vans going to showcase how amazing driving T6 VW vans are, they also offer a choice of two interior lay outs..YUP ‘Our Bessy’ who will join the Lakes Escape family in May will have a U Shape seating area which is a great social area where you will experience a different vibe.

We have ensured our girls are unique so hiring one of our vans before you ‘Try Before You Buy’ will make sure you are best placed to make your decision, Automatic or Manual drive? Unsure?, well we can offer you the choice as we have both options available, we do spoil you!

We advise you to try both sizes ( not a sales ploy pinky promise ) but you wouldn’t know which flavor syrup on your ice cream you prefer if you don’t try more than one ( or is that just me ) and of course we get to see you again YAY. Maybe like me you don’t like to wait for all those good things, I mean who made up that saying?

I always think back to Dad of the year who on collecting his van I noticed he wasn’t as excited as his wife and children..”Are you Ok?..give us a smile your going on an adventure” to which he replied “I think I am ok although being trapped in a tin machine with 2 children aged 4 and 6 isn’t my idea of a holiday” OH….Fast forward to drop off on a Monday..”Have you had a good time?” “It was amazing…loved it..we are buying one this year” I rest my case x

We love it when past customers send us their photies of their new baby and what they have called her/him, yes really! Believe us when we say that one customer thought her husband loved their van more than her, I think she was joking NOT!

In basic terms LWB are a longer van  So, when you are looking for your perfect campervan, you may find yourself wondering does size really matter? Our girls are as popular as eachother and tbh I really cannot decide which I prefer as there are sooo many factors to consider so we have put together our thoughts to help you make the best decision EVER

SWB:

1.More suited to narrow streets which out in the country and by the coast are plentiful.

2. Less likely to get stuck whilst off roading or on rocky terrain.  Us campervan enthusiasts do like to go off the beaten track. Going Off Grid is hugely popular so you want to minimise the risk of getting bogged down.

A no brainer really..easier to do a three point turn and cruise around corners

Often cited as being more fun to drive and having a sporty feel.

Overall are smaller so less expensive to convert

LWB:

More space inside for a larger bed/bigger kitchen. Also, more locker/storage space.  More storage is a huge pro – especially if you are travelling as a family and your fur baby. There is also more space for the dog bed at the foot of the bed.

Smoother ride due to greater time between front and rear wheels hitting bumps.  When travelling long distances, a more comfortable ride would be a great plus. 

Less sporty feel in the drive means you tend to use a lighter foot and often leads to better fuel consumption
